Tottenham’s hopes of securing a summer deal for Leandro Damiao have received a boost, after Internacional’s director of football confessed the striker could leave the club this summer.
Spurs have been linked with the Brazilian front-man for some time, and even made a late approach to bring him to the Premier League during January.
Their offer was rebuffed, but speculation has refused to go away, with rumours circulating that the Londoners will make another offer at the end of the season.
Internacional are prepared for bids, and Luis Cesar Souto de Moura has revealed that they may be unable to keep hold of the 23-year-old:
“Leandro Damiao is indeed the player that is most likely to leave Internacional, especially because foreign clubs are interested,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“Damiao is the player of the moment, everyone is seeing that. He is a great player, he’s very special.”
Damaio is reportedly valued at around £20m, and would address Andre Villas-Boas’ striker issues.
The White Hart Lane club currently have only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor available to them, with the latter struggling for form.
Due to this, they have relied heavily upon Gareth Bale for goals, but the Welshman could be leaving the club this summer.
