As reported by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have been alerted to the availability of Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir after French club Lyon named their asking price for the World Cup star.

What's the story?

Fekir was on the brink of a move to Liverpool earlier this month ahead of the World Cup, a move that ultimately fell through after Lyon released a statement saying he would not be moving to Anfield.

Now he has been offered to other Premier League clubs for £66m, according to The Sun.

They say that the player is still available for a transfer this summer with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea alerted to his status at the Ligue 1 outfit.

Should Tottenham splurge on his signing this summer?

Is he worth the cash?

Fekir has emerged as one of the hottest available players in Europe after a sensational season at Lyon. The attacking midfielder scored an impressive 23 goals in all competitions in 2017/18, also providing 9 assists.

That's the kind of attacking contribution that Tottenham can't afford to miss out on this summer, as they look to add more creativity to their attack in support of the ever reliable Harry Kane.

Still just 24 years of age, Fekir has excellent long-term potential too and shouldn't waste time in making a move for the player, with his value potentially rocketing if he has an impressive World Cup with France.

Signing him would be a massive statement of intent that Spurs are ready to challenge for the major honours this summer, giving supporters a further boost after tying Mauricio Pochettino and Kane down to new long-term contracts.

They must attempt to do what Liverpool couldn't.
