As reported by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are set to open contract talks with Mousa Dembele regarding a new contract with the club that could be worth up to £100,000-a-week.

The 30-year-old's current deal doesn't run out until the end of next season, but after a number of impressive performances this term, the paper say the club are keen to tie him down beyond 2019.

Dembele has had a number of injury and fitness over the past couple of years but has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season and delighted supporters with his form.

Fans certainly appear keen to sign him up to a new deal, feeling he deserves every penny of the reported £100,000-a-week.

It is quite rare for Spurs to invest so heavily in an ageing talent, but is Dembele a special case given his important to Mauricio Pochettino's team?
