Nowadays, football fans competing at the top level, like Tottenham Hotspur, are on the prowl for world-class signings.
However, they can also appreciate it when one of their former stars moves on in their careers.
Michael Dawson is a big favourite among the Spurs following as he spent nine years at the North London outfit between 2005 and 2014.
It became clear that the defender was not going to be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s revolution when the Argentine took over the club, so in order to further his career, Dawson moved to Hull City.
Over the course of a four-year spell, the centre-back made 122 league appearances for the Tigers, and now he is going back to his roots.
Dawson, who has earned four England caps, came through the Nottingham Forest youth ranks, and this week he agreed to sign a two-year deal at the Championship outfit.

Once the deal was announced, Tottenham fans sent their well-wishes and brought some fond memories out of the vault.
He’s a top lad. Mad how differently things turned out for him and Andy Reid. Players like Dawson represent an exciting time and a fork in the road leading to how Spurs got to to where they are today; I hope younger fans acknowledge that.

Still think it’s a disgrace he never got a Testimonial #OneOfOurOwn

I once went to watch the lads train and met Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Parker…all the lads back then. Only one player really got involved and wanted to chat with everyone in a genuine way and it was Dawson. Really top lad. Only one who was a real moody git was Kyle Walker.

My all time favourite player. Such a professional footballer and top character and leader. Hope it all goes well at Nottingham. Still hoping he gets a testimonial with us, one day.

Always loved him. Played with a smile on his face. Named my labrador after him. (Dawson….Not Michael. My son is called Michael!)

Michael Dawson, one of my all time Spurs favourites. Always playing with his heart on the sleeve and put his body on the line.
