Tottenham Hotspur fans have had to settle for speculation rather than transfer announcements so far this summer.

The North London outfit have been linked to numerous targets, and the latest has emerged from Colombia in the form of Wilmar Barrios.

According to Antena 2, a report from Argentine station Radio Mitre claimed over the weekend that Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign the defensive midfielder from Boca Juniors.

The 24-year-old is relatively unknown on English shores but he has 10 international caps for Colombia.

Last season, Barrios made 27 appearances in all competitions for the South American club, and contributed with one goal in that time.

Tottenham could be in the market for a new powerhouse in the middle of the park due to speculation surrounding Victor Wanyama, while Mousa Dembele has also been linked with an exit.

After reports emerged of Spurs’ interest, fans took to Reddit to post their thoughts on the Colombian.

The supporters may be acting too prematurely, though, as football.london reports that the club are not currently looking at Barrios with a view to launching a bid.
