Real Madrid have cooled interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, as well as manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to Sports Illustrated.
It is safe to say that most people have probably lost count of the amount of times that Tottenham figures have been linked to Real Madrid this season.
Kane’s scintillating form in attack, which has earned him 35 goals in all competitions, was always going to attract other clubs.
As for Pochettino, the Argentine has transformed the North London outfit into genuine title challengers since his arrival in 2014.
Real Madrid were thought to be hovering, but according to Sports Illustrated, Kane and Pochettino are no longer on their radar.
The report states that Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski has moved to the top of the wishlist, while a 3-0 win over Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals has eased pressure on manager Zinedine Zidane.
In the world of football, nothing is ever certain, but at this stage of Tottenham’s development, it would be a huge shock if either Kane or Pochettino left this summer.
If the club’s star striker got his head turned by the big boys in Spain, he could be forgiven for considering a move given that he is in the form of his life.
However, Kane, who is hoping to chase down Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot, has not given any indication that he wants to leave this summer.
Moreover, the club will begin a fresh chapter next season when they move into a brand new state-of-the-art stadium, which will challenge the Premier League elite.
If the pair are to leave in the future, it is difficult to envisage them departing before the new campaign.
