Tottenham Hotspur could sign Inter Milan right-back Danilo D'Ambrosio as part of a swap deal involving Mousa Dembele, according to Calcionews24.

What's the word?

The North London club could be in the market for a new midfielder soon as widespread reports have indicated that Dembele is on his way out of the club.

The 30-year-old is yet to sign a new contract, which suggests that he is seriously considering his future at Tottenham.

Calcionews24 reported on Sunday that Spurs could get D'Ambrosio in a deal that would see Dembele move to Inter Milan.

The player on offer is a right-back at the Italian outfit and has been at the San Siro since his 2014 switch from Torino.

The 29-year-old, who is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, made 34 Serie A appearances last season, scoring two goals and creating four assists.

Is this a worthy exchange?

Frankly, no. Tottenham are not in need of another right-back as they currently have Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier fighting for the position.

Kyle Walker-Peters is also an option as he continues working on his game in the development sides.

D'Ambrosio is experienced in Serie A, but a potential move to Tottenham would be pointless as he is not a necessary purchase.

From the player's point of view, it would be odd for him to sign for a club where there is a likely chance that he will be third or fourth in the pecking order.

If Inter are keen to get a deal done for Dembele, then Spurs should focus on getting the best money possible for the midfielder, who has one year left on his current contract.
