Tottenham Hotspur linked with swoop for Thauvin, fans react

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with numerous players since the transfer window opened, but they are yet to complete a signing.

The North London outfit will hope to have some new faces when they march into their state-of-the-art stadium for the 2018-19 season.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has done a stellar job at the club since his arrival in 2014 having guided them to a top-four finish three seasons in a row.

However, it has been a decade since the club lifted a trophy, and the pressure is growing.

It seems that a former Newcastle United winger is being considered as a summer signing, which has raised a few eyebrows among the Tottenham following.

According to RMC Sport, Florian Thauvin has attracted the attention of Spurs, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid with his performances at Marseille.

Last season, the winger, who is valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, scored an impressive 26 goals and created 18 assists.

Thauvin’s form is a far cry from the displays he showed during a difficult spell at Newcastle United, where he left in 2017 to join Marseille permanently following a loan stint.

Given that Tottenham only bought Lucas Moura in January, it seems odd that Pochettino would be prioritising a right winger.

Despite Thauvin’s upturn in form, the majority of Spurs fans are not impressed by the reports.
