Pundit Danny Mills believes Tottenham Hotspur should make a move for Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson this summer, speaking to website Football Insider.

What's he said?

Having not signed a single player last season, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a few quality additions to their first-team squad this summer, building on the side that reached the UEFA Champions League final.

The Sun reported last month that one player they are looking at is Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, with Mauricio Pochettino looking for competition and back-up for talisman Harry Kane.

Mills reckons it'd be a great move, telling Football Insider:

"He could play alongside Harry Kane, he’s a very, very good player. If I was Tottenham I would be looking at him and thinking: ‘What am I going to get for my money? Actually yes. Is he better than what we’ve got in terms of secondary? Yes.

Is he going to want to go there and be second fiddle? Champions League football might encourage him, new stadium – all these types of things. He might just think: ‘Yeah, you know what? I’ll give that a go and if I get a chance, I’ll take it.’ The manager, Pochettino, if you do well will leave you in.

I think Tottenham would be a good fit for him. He’d have to prove himself to get in the side week in, week out but it’s certainly something he would want to be chasing."

Would he be a good Spurs fit?

Wilson certainly emerged last season as one of the leading strikers in the Premier League, scoring an impressive 14 goals in 30 league appearances for the Cherries, as well as contributing ten assists.

It was form good enough for him to earn his first England caps, playing three times for Gareth Southgate's side since the World Cup and netting on his debut against the United States.

Rated at £27m by Transfermarkt, he's a realistic option for Spurs during this transfer window and as Mills points out, Spurs is also a very attractive destination for the player too.

If the deal is there to be done, the London club should certainly be pursuing it.
