Tottenham in for £10m Ajax ace

Christian EriksenTottenham have a made a move for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Danish international – who is also wanted by Liverpool – has been on Spurs’ radar for much of the summer.

Now, with number one target Willian said to be on the verge of agreeing a stunning move to Chelsea, the North Londoners are ready to turn to Eriksen.

Although he is thought of as one of the top playmakers in Europe, the 21-year-old is available at a discount rate with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Ajax would, ideally, like to keep him at the Amsterdam ArenA, but are aware that it makes financial sense to sell him before the summer window ends rather than watch his value decrease further across the rest of the season.

Andre Villas-Boas is keen to take advantage of this as he plans for life without Gareth Bale.

The Welshman is on the verge of completing a world-record move to Real Madrid, which will leave the Portuguese coach needing to find a new star.

Eriksen can occupy the role just behind the main striker – a position that Bale thrived in last season – and is also comfortable operating from either flank.

Tottenham fans, would missing out on Willian be worth it if you get Christian Eriksen?
