Tottenham keen on Colombian hitman

Jackson Martinez (Porto)Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is ready to bolster his attacking options with a January swoop for Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to reports from The Mirror.

Despite having spent over £100m during the summer, the Portuguese coach is still thought to have concerns over his side’s abilities in the final third.

AVB’s newest recruits have not quite had the desired effect as of yet, leaving the White Hart Lane chief looking towards alternatives.

One man to have caught his eye is Martinez, who plies his trade for former side Porto.

The Colombian forward is one of Europe’s premier marksmen, having notched an astonishing 40 goals in 55 appearances for the Estadio do Dragao-based side.

The 27-year-old has been offered a new contract by Porto in an attempt to keep him away from the clutches of some of the continent’s top sides, but he is yet to commit himself to the club.

AVB sees the South American as the ideal man to provide recent arrival Roberto Soldado with competition, or potentially form a strong partnership with the Spaniard.

Tottenham may fund the move by allowing Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor to leave.

The pair are wanted by MLS giants Toronto and Turkish outfit Besiktas respectively.
