Tottenham keen to bring back MLS star

Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders)Tottenham lead a queue of Premier League teams keen to bring Clint Dempsey back to England on a short-term loan from the Seattle Sounders in January, according to reports from the Sunday People.

Spurs sold the American international to the MLS giants over the summer after just one season at White Hart Lane following his move from local rivals Fulham.

But, as part of the deal the London club has a clause of first refusal written in ahead of potential winter loan move back to England.

With the America’s top football league’s off-season occurring during the winter, players are free to join European sides on short-term deals with their parent club’s permission.

With the World Cup fast approaching, it’s likely that Dempsey will be keen to maintain his fitness in a bid to be ready for the tournament.

Former club Fulham and Everton are also keen on the 30-year-old, who will have the final say on who he joins.

Landon Donovan, Thierry Henry and Robbie Keane are three high profile players to have moved to the Premier League on temporary switches, joining Everton, Arsenal and Aston Villa respectively.

Tottenham fans, would you welcome Clint Dempsey back to White Hart Lane?
