Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris was at fault for Liverpool’s opening goal as the Frenchman showed an uncharacteristically weak wrist when attempting to stop Lazar Markovic. The Serb was given too much space to run at the Spurs defence but the shot that Markovic managed in the end should never have been enough to beat the Tottenham stopper.
Lloris has hardly put a foot wrong all season and, along with Harry Kane, is one of the main reasons why Spurs are in with a shout of a top four finish. The 28-year-old already has 65 international caps to his name and has been the France captain for the past three years.
Markovic arrived at Liverpool from Benfica over the summer with a reputation as one of European football’s best young players after helping the Lisbon giants to secure the league title last term but took time to settle at his new club. However, the Serb is beginning to show that manager Bredan Rodgers was right to keep his faith in the young star.
