Tottenham leading race for Roma star

Roma striker Pablo OsvaldoTottenham are leading a three-way battle for Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Despite an impressive season so far in the Premier League, Spurs are believed to be keen to strengthen their squad this summer, and have highlighted a front-man as a top priority.

Currently, manager Andre Villas-Boas has only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor to choose from, with the former just returning from injury and the latter failing to impress.

Osvaldo is reportedly a target for the north Londoners, who have been impressed by his return of 11 goals in 22 league appearances this term.

However, they face competition from Serie A champions Juventus and an unnamed Russian club, believed to be Anzhi Makhachkala, for his signature.

Despite there being three years remaining on his contract, Roma are said to be willing the sell the 27-year-old during the next transfer window, after he fell out with club icon Francesco Totti.

The Argentine-born hit-man could be tempted by a move to White Hart Lane, who would be, likely, to be able to offer him guaranteed first-team football.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in Internacional’s Leandro Damiao, a player they have been tracking for some time, and reportedly bid for during January.
