According to Mein Werder, Tottenham Hotspur have been informed that they will need to part with £17m if they wish to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney this summer.

What's the story?

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Delaney over the last month or so, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino believed to be a huge admirer of the Denmark international.

Brighton & Hove Albion are also said to be interested, although Tottenham would fancy their chances of winning any race that might occur between the two clubs.

According to Mein Werder, Spurs have been informed that Delaney will be available for £17m in this summer's transfer window, which is not a fee that will discourage the English club.

There are bound to be other European clubs in the race for the midfielder at such a reasonable price, and Spurs are said to be keen to act fast in a bid to secure his services.

Would Delaney be a good signing?

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for Werder Bremen this season - scoring three times and registering six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-time Denmark international actually only joined Werder Bremen from Copenhagen in January 2017, but it has not taken him long to make an impression in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham are in desperate need of reinforcements this summer, but they will not be able to splash the cash in the same manner as the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

Securing quality players at a reasonable price is the name of the game for Spurs in this summer's transfer window, and there is no question that Delaney falls into that category.

Everton have also previously been linked with the midfielder and could yet reignite their interest, although Tottenham appear to be a strong position to complete the deal.
