Mauricio Pochettino has made Lyon ace Tanguy Ndombele his priority for Tottenham in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
While Tottenham remain there or thereabouts near the top of the Premier League this season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have put in a number of lacklustre performances and risk falling out of the top-four this season if their woes continue.
The Lilywhites neglected to sign a single player during the summer transfer window and have since seen their ranks depleted by injury issues, raising concern about the lack of depth that Pochettino has at his disposal.
Tottenham appear to have a plan though as The Mirror states Spurs are reigniting their interest in Lyon ace Tanguy Ndombele, with the report stating the North London side previously saw a £40m bid for the 21-year-old in the summer.
Midfield changes are on the cards for Tottenham as Mousa Dembele edges closer towards his expected departure at the end of the season when his contract comes to a close and Ndombele would be the ideal successor to the Belgium international.
However, Ndombele has recently signed an extension with Lyon until 2023 and the report adds a fee of at least £55m will need to be lodged if a deal is to be agreed, while rival interest from Manchester City also causes problems as the Lilywhites cannot fight their Premier League rivals financially.
Either way, Tottenham will need to go all-out if they are to snatch the youngster from Lyon and securing a deal would be a major statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League, showing that they are capable of stunning deals in the market.
