Harry Winks has expressed his delight that Christian Eriksen has stayed at Tottenham Hotspur, per The London Evening Standard.
The Denmark international was heavily linked with a departure in the summer transfer window, having expressed a desire to take on a new challenge following the Champions League final.
However, no bids were forthcoming from Real Madrid and Barcelona, the teams that he had reportedly set his heart upon joining.
And Winks is delighted that the Denmark international will be sticking around in north London.
He said: “Christian’s a fantastic player, there’s no doubt about that.
“He’s been one of our most impressive performers over the last few years. Christian’s a top person and whatever he decides, that’s up to him.
“All we can say is how well he’s performed for us this season and how professional he is. He’s fantastic.”
It’s important that the entire squad is happy with the club’s transfer dealings and moving Eriksen on could have impacted the dynamic.
Spurs did sign Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis in the summer and he could turn out to be a long-term replacement for Eriksen, provided his loan move becomes permanent at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, keeping the Dane has clearly made Winks happy and it is likely to have done similar for other first-team players at the club.

The playmaker has made a total of 281 appearances for Spurs, scoring 67 goals and registering 86 assists; he now has the opportunity to add to that tally this season.
That can only be a good thing for both the fans and Eriksen’s team-mates.
