Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has tipped on-loan Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a bright future after his impressive England debut on Friday night.

Loftus-Cheek put in a Man-of-the-Match performance on Friday as England held the world champions Germany to a goalless draw at Wembley.

The 21-year-old was sent on loan to Crystal Palace for the 2017-18 campaign after being deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

The midfielder's early-season form with the Eagles saw him earn a call into Gareth Southgate's selection, and he could make his second England appearance against Brazil on Tuesday night.

Spurs' Dier, who currently has the captain's armband for England, has paid tribute to Loftus-Cheek, and believes that there is plenty more to come from the Chelsea man.

Dier told reporters:

"Everyone's known about Ruben's potential for a long time. It's great that he’s now playing regular football week in, week out at Crystal Palace.

"That can only allow him to fulfil his potential. Hopefully this [his international debut] is another step in his progression.

"There's so much more to come from him, but there's no point getting too carried away at this point. He's a good boy and he still has a lot to work on, like all of us."

Loftus-Cheek made 11 appearances for Chelsea last season, whilst he has appeared seven times for Palace in the early stages of the 2017-18 campaign.
