Tottenham must spend big on midfield in January after another Sissoko shocker

Tottenham fans were desperate for a new central midfielder in the summer transfer window, and Moussa Sissoko’s display vs Wolves proved once and for all that a midfield upgrade must be top priority in January.

There aren’t meant players in the Premier League that take more stick from their own fans than Sissoko, but the Frenchman didn’t do himself any favours on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino is clearly a big fan of his versatility and athleticism, and the injury crisis in midfield cleared the way for the 29 year-old to start at Molineux.

While the late Wolves fight back wasn’t enough to stop Spurs taking three points, Pochettino’s midfield just got completely bypassed at times.

Sissoko in particularly had almost no effect on the match, and the mounting injuries will surely prompt a mass midfield overhaul in 2019.

Sissoko display vs Wolves

The 53-cap French international completed 83 per cent of his passes in the 3-2 win, but that was about the extent of his involvement.

He registered no shots, no key passes and just one successful dribble, and he didn’t make up for it on the defensive end either.

With zero tackles, zero interceptions no clearances, Pochettino simply must axe the controversial signing at the first opportunity.

So, Tottenham fans, who do you want to sign in January? Does Sissoko need to go? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
