According to the London Evening Standard, scouts from Tottenham Hotspur watched Queens Park Rangers youngster Eberechi Eze during Wednesday's Championship clash with Millwall at Loftus Road.

What's the story?

Eze joined QPR from Millwall in 2016, and the Lions will be rueing the fact that they allowed him to leave following his performance on Wednesday night.

Indeed, the 20-year-old was on the scoresheet for Steve McClaren's side to make it three goals in eight Championship appearances for the R's this season.

Things were not exactly looking great for QPR in the early weeks of the season, with a terrible start leaving them bottom of the division.

The capital outfit have now won four of their last five matches in all competitions, however, and are shifting up the league table.

There is no question that Eze has been key to that upturn in form, and according to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham scouts were in attendance to watch him in action against Millwall.

Should Tottenham move for Eze?

Eze is far from the finished product, but there is no question that he is a special talent, and QPR will know that they will struggle to keep hold of him on a long-term basis.

Eze signed a new contract with the R's during the summer, but money talks in football - particularly at Championship level - and if Tottenham come calling then QPR will find it very tough to keep hold of him.

Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for Aston Villa's Jack Grealish during the summer, but could not come to an agreement with the Championship club.

Grealish has struggled for form this season, which has led to criticism from the Villa fans.

Spurs were expected to return for Grealish in January, but they should instead be looking at a deal for Eze, who has the potential to follow in Dele Alli's footsteps.
