Tottenham plot Serie A striker swoop

Tottenham are keen to sign Napoli forward Goran Pandev this month, according to the Metro.

Reports in Italy suggest the 30-year-old forward is keen on a move to White Hart Lane, and a deal could be completed in the coming days.

Pandev has not been a regular this season under Rafael Benitez, and will be allowed to move on once Napoli complete the expected signings of Jorginho from Hellas Verona and Michel Bastos from UAE side Al Ain.

Pandev joined Napoli on loan in 2011 before making the move permanent a year later.

He has grown frustrated by his limited playing opportunities this season, and is thought to be intrigued by the prospect of Premier League football at White Hart Lane.

Tim Sherwood is in the market for a new striker, following the sale of Jermain Defoe to MLS side FC Toronto.

The England forward will not officially leave until March, but with Roberto Soldado struggling for form in front of goal, Sherwood is keen to add an attacking reinforcement this month.

Yesterday’s 3-1 win over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium took Tottenham into fifth, level on points with Liverpool, and also meant a club record fifth consecutive away win.
