Mousa Dembele is set to move to Chinese club Beijing Guoan in an £11 million January deal, according to the London Evening Standard.

What's the word?

Beijing have reportedly tabled a bid worth £11m for Dembele, with the deal set to be completed in the coming days.

The Belgium international has endured an injury-ravaged season, playing just 10 Premier League games.

Mauricio Pochettino has routinely refused to play Dembele twice in one week, and the report claims that the 31-year-old is growing tired of the amount of injuries he sustains in English football.

The 6'1" Belgian has only recently returned to full training after an ankle ligament injury, and Pochettino revealed earlier this week that the midfielder would play no part in Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea.

Cashing in at the right time?

Dembele's injury problems are well documented and, while he has been a faithful servant to Spurs in recent years, it does seem as though this is exactly the right time for Spurs to cash in.

Of course, Dembele has been worth more than £11m throughout his career, but Spurs are unlikely to receive a bigger offer, while the player will surely be attracted by the prospect of significantly improving his £80,000-per-week wages.

Spurs have had to operate without Dembele for the last 10 games, and have lost just twice, to Arsenal and Wolves, showing that they no longer rely on the veteran star.

The emergence of Oliver Skipp, and the transformation of Moussa Sissoko into a central midfield destroyer, means that his sale is unlikely to be keenly felt, and Tottenham may even resist the temptation to dip into the transfer market to replace him.

It remains to be seen if this will be the start of a January firesale, however, with the likes of Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou also reportedly up for sale.
