Tottenham are preparing a bid of £7million for Santos forward Neilton, a player dubbed the ‘new Neymar’, according to The Metro.
Spurs scouts are said to be raving about the 19-year-old, who exploded onto the scene in Brazil earlier this year.
Having missed out on Neymar as a 15-year-old, the North London club are intent on not letting this opportunity slide.
The youngster has become a regular in the Santos side following the departure of Neymar to Barcelona.
Both players graduated from the same academy, and Neilton is regarded as having the talent to mirror the success of his compatriot.
There is speculation that the starlet has a £5million buyout clause, though that is thought to apply only to Brazilian clubs, meaning Andre Villas-Boas could have to shell out a considerable sum to secure Neilton’s services.
Spurs are supposedly looking into the chances of securing a work permit for Neilton, before officially making an offer to Santos.
Neilton has played eight times for the Brazilian side and netted on three occasions.
Tottenham are also reportedly in a battle to sign Bernard from Atletico Mineiro, along with Premier League rivals Liverpool and a host of other clubs.
Bernard is a pacey winger and believed to command a fee of around £20million.
