Tottenham’s large Belgian contingent is likely to help them pip AC Milan to the signing of Axel Witsel, reports Calciomercato.
Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Nacer Chadli and Mousa Dembele have regularly been members of the same international squad as Witsel and it is thought that this could be the difference between a move to North London or Milan.
Witsel is currently playing for Zenit and he reportedly is hoping to push for a move to a better know European league in the near future.
Milan have been chasing Witsel for a long period of time, but it is thought that, if Tottenham are going to follow through with their interest, that their Belgian quartet will be about to grow once more.
Witsel would face stiff competition in the Spurs midfield at the moment, with Eric Dier and Dele Alli in superb form, but the additional experience of the Belgian international could be enough for Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy to push for his signature.
