Tottenham ready to cut losses on summer flop

Tottenham are planning to take a massive £15m loss on Erik Lamela this summer, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Argentine ace arrived at the club last year in a deal worth almost £30m from Roma, and was hailed as the man to fill the void left by the departed Gareth Bale.

However he has failed to transfer the form his showed in Serie A to the Premier League, with rumours suggesting that he was ready to call time on his spell in London during January.

The 22-year-old is said to want a move back to Italy, where interest from Juventus, Inter Milan and former club Roma is said to be intense.

But none of the trio are willing to spend big, and will only pay around half of the figure Spurs shelled out less than 12 months ago.

Lamela has been compared to Lionel Messi in the past, yet he has only notched one goal in Tottenham colours in nine appearances, and he looks unlikely to add to either of those counts this term thanks to injury.

Andre Villas-Boas signed the South American youngster last summer, but has since been relieved of his duties at the club.
