The teenager was linked with Spurs last month, and now reports in Spain are suggesting the North London club are preparing to step up their interest as they go in search for a potential replacement for Gareth Bale.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Tottenham monitored the youngster throughout the European under-19 Championships, where the winger proved to be one of Spain’s stand out performers.
Spurs are also understood to have had scouts present at Craven Cottage on Monday night, to witness the youngster’s performance against Fulham in Real Betis’ latest pre-season friendly.
While no official bid has been launched, it is thought Tottenham have begun preliminary negotiations with the Spaniards, which may well move forward quickly depending on Bale’s protracted move to the Bernabeu.
Betis however do not want to part with one of their brightest talents, and club president Miguel Guillen suggested it would take a large offer for him to consider selling the 18-year-old.
“The club’s intention is that Vadillo shall stay at Betis. For us to allow our young prodigy to depart, there would have to be a very strong financial benefit for the club,” Guillen said.
“Vadillo has a great future in front of him, and we are very excited thinking about what he is going to bring to us during this coming season.”
The youngster has a reported £17.3million release clause in his contract, and would be open to a move to England.
Reports suggest the youngster has in fact been studying English over the past two years in preparation for a move to the Premier League.
