Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor will face disciplinary action after failing to arrive back in the UK for training on Friday.

Adebayor had been give a deadline of returning to the club on Friday at 3pm but he failed to show for training, it was later extended to 3pm on Friday but Adebayor failed to make that dealine too. Tottenham had to send a private jet to to Africa to bring striker Adebayor back to Luton airport on Fridayand he re-joined his teammates around 6pm that night.

Andre Villas-Boas was understandably frustrated at the situation due to the lack of available strikers for the team at the moment. Speaking to The Mirror when asked about the possibility of reprimanding Adebayor he said

“We shall, it is done, we won’t talk about it publicly.

“He arrived on Friday around 6 o’clock, landed in Luton. So he joined the team in the hotel. He was authorised to come back on Friday.

“Some issues have arose that have put that comeback in jeopardy but he still was in time to come back and make an impact from the bench.”

Togo were knocked out of the AFCON last Sunday at the same time as Ivory Coast but yet Kolo and Yaya Toure both made it back by Wednesday but Adebayor hadn’t even left his hotel by Wednesday. Despite his late return he came on as a sub during Saturday’s game.
