According to Foot Mercato, Everton and Leicester City both want to sign Borussia Monchengladbach's Thorgan Hazard, but Tottenham Hotspur should also be in the race for the Belgium international.

What's the word, then?

Everton and Leicester are seemingly preparing to go head-to-head for Hazard in the January transfer window.

Indeed, the 25-year-old - brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard - will see his current deal with Gladbach expire in 2020, and it is thought that the attacker is keen to move on.

Hazard did not make a single appearance for Chelsea following a 2012 move from Lens, but the attacker has gone from strength to strength during his time in Germany, and is believed to be open to a return to England.

Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, Tottenham would not have to break the bank to sign the Belgian, and there is no question that Spurs should be in the hunt.

Why would Hazard be a good fit for Spurs?

An impressive loan spell at Gladbach during the 2014-15 campaign led to a permanent move to the Bundesliga club, and the versatile attacker has gone from strength to strength.

This season, Hazard has scored seven times and registered four assists in nine appearances in all competitions, including four goals in eight Bundesliga matches.

The penny finally seems to have dropped as Hazard looks to escape the shadow of his brother, and Tottenham should make their move when the January transfer window opens for business.

Mauricio Pochettino's team famously did not spend a penny during the summer, but that is expected to change at the start of 2019.

Signing quality players at affordable prices is the name of the game for the capital outfit, and there is no question that Hazard falls into that category.
