Hoffenheim striker Joelinton continues to impress for the German club, and Tottenham Hotspur should look to sign the Brazilian before one of their Premier League rivals ultimately does.

What's the word, then?

Well, Spurs are in desperate need of finding some quality back-up for Harry Kane either during the January transfer window or next summer, and Joelinton could be an interesting option for them.

The 22-year-old has already been compared to former Hoffenheim attacker and current Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, and he has four goals and further two assists in nine appearances in all competitions so far this term – including the Champions League encounter against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

With Fernando Llorente failing to impress during his time with the north London club and his contract due to run out at the end of the campaign, Mauricio Pochettino may well prioritise bringing in a new striker to support Kane in the New Year to help his team in what could be a hectic second-half of the season.

Why Joelinton?

Firstly, the Brazilian has a similar sort of style – albeit he is more physical – to Firmino, and we have all seen how effectively he has worked in the centre-forward role for Liverpool in the last couple of season despite it not being his natural position earlier in his career.

Joelinton's speed and high work rate mean he would offer the press that Pochettino often demands of his players, while his strength in the air and his goal record this term show that he should be able to find the net on a regular basis as well.

With great potential at just 22 years of age, as well as being available for a fee that should be well within Tottenham's price range, Spurs must snap the 6ft 1in striker before one of their Premier League rivals make a move.
