Bale has been the subject of one of the summer’s longest transfer sagas, and reports this week have suggested Premier League champions Manchester United may be preparing an offer for the Tottenham winger.
The 24-year-old will not feature for his country in their friendly with the Republic of Ireland tonight due to a foot injury, and refused to be drawn over the reported interest from United, or indeed the world record offer Real Madrid tabled for his services a couple of weeks ago.
“I’m really sorry, now’s not the time to talk,” Bale said after training on his own at Dragon Park in Newport yesterday.
Real Madrid remain the favourites for the winger’s signature, having held extensive negotiations with Tottenham for the past three weeks.
Spanish newspaper Marca splashed the 24-year-old across their front page yesterday, while a host of Spanish photographers and camera crews showed up in the hope of catching a glimpse of Bale.
Manchester United have been credited with an interest for Bale only this week, after reports suggested negotiations with Real Madrid had broken down.
The Premier League Champions are thought to be preparing an offer of their own which would see cash and forward Javier Hernandez offered to Tottenham in part exchange.
