Tottenham star desperate to return after Fulham loan

Tottenham’s Lewis Holtby has revealed that he is keen to return to White Hart Lane once his loan stint at Fulham ends in a few months’ time.

The German midfielder joined the Cottagers to aid their relegation battle in January and play regular first-team football after a difficult opening half of the campaign.

He has since become a key man at Craven Cottage, featuring prominently in their recent upturn in form.

With an array of talent at Tottenham, a permanent move away from north London for the 23-year-old has been mooted, but Holtby says that he is hoping to prove himself with the Lilywhites:

“I signed a long contract at Tottenham and I was hoping to have a long future at the club,” he told talkSPORT.

“I still believe I can do that. I have the qualities to play for Tottenham.”

Holtby went on to state that he chose to move to Fulham in a bid to secure regular action and prove himself to be a capable Premier League player:

“I was desperate to get some games. I hate being on the bench.

“I love playing football and expressing myself. Fulham gave me the chance to play high quality football in the Premier League.”
