Tottenham target fuels transfer rumours by London visit

Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo fuelled rumours of his potential move to Tottenham when he reportedly travelled to London earlier this week, according to talkSPORT.

The Argentina-born striker sat out of Roma’s match against local rival Lazio on Monday night, but instead of attending the match, Osvaldo allegedly chose to travel to London with his girlfriend.

Osvaldo has not started for the Italian club since their 3-1 victory over Genoa on 3 March, and he has found his role at the club reduced as the club continue to struggle in Serie A.

The North London club, who have kept an eye on the forward since his move to Italy in 2011, recently made an offer of £8m, and it is believed they are one step closer to bringing the 27-year-old to the Premier League.

The Spurs have made it their priority to bring forward reinforcements to White Hart Lane in the summer, due to disappointing performances by striker duo Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will likely have competition from Juventus and Fiorentina, who are also rumoured to be interested in the £12m-rated forward.

However, Osvaldo’s former Bologna coach, Franco Colomba, had words of warning about the player’s attitude. “Osvaldo has potential talent, but is always missing something, especially in terms of his character.”

He continued by saying that the player “feels aversion to his teammates” when he is on the bench.

“In a squad, even those on the bench are part of the game, but Osvaldo can’t stand that and pays the consequences.”
