According to reports in The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa this summer.

What's the word, then?

Layvin Kurzawa celebrates a Paris Saint-Germain goal

Well, The Mirror says that Spurs are keen to strengthen in that position as they are prepared to sell Danny Rose this summer, meaning they would require further competition for Ben Davies, whom Tottenham fans have criticised on Twitter in recent weeks.

The Mirror says that Kurzawa will be available at the end of the season as PSG are looking to sell players before they bring in new ones, with French media outlet RMC Sport reporting on April 11 that the Ligue 1 giants would want a minimum of €25m (£21.8m) for the 25-year-old.

How has Kurzawa done this season?

Despite the fact that PSG are willing to move him on during the summer, the France international has still been something of a regular for them so far this term, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

Even though he has featured as a left-back, he has scored an impressive five goals – including a hat-trick in the 5-0 win against Anderlecht in the Champions League – while he has also provided a further four assists.

According to WhoScored.com, two of his key strengths are his passing and his dribbling ability, and as well as having an overall passing accuracy of 87% in 24 outings in Ligue 1 and in Europe during the current campaign, he has also made 13 key passes and successfully completed 18 of the 30 dribbles he has attempted.

Would he be a good signing for Tottenham?

He certainly would be.

If Spurs are letting Rose go this summer then manager Mauricio Pochettino will want to bring in a top-class replacement that can be a regular starter ahead of Davies, and Kurzawa certainly fits the bill and is someone that can help them reach the next level.

With plenty of experience of playing at the very top with Monaco and PSG and with the ability to make a huge impact in the final third as well as defensively, he is the archetypal modern-day full-back and has all of the ingredients needed to be a success with the north London outfit.

Can they win the race?

Considering Chelsea have Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri already it is difficult to see them signing Kurzawa too, while United could focus on Rose or Juventus' Alex Sandro instead, leaving Tottenham in pole position to potentially sign the France international in what would be a bargain deal in the current era.
