Tottenham target Alexandre Pato has revealed that he turned sown a summer offer to leave Corinthians due to his desire to stay with the Brazilian giants.
Spurs reportedly tabled a deadline day offer for the striker as Andre Villas-Boas looked to make a last minute move to bolster his attacking options.
The Brazilian international only returned to his homeland in January, but has been impressive since leaving Serie A outfit AC Milan after an injury ravaged spell at the San Siro.
Pato confirmed that he received a late proposal, but that his desire to stay with Corinthians was enough to turn it down.
“I received offers, they called Corinthians, sent a fax, to sign me in the window, but I sat down with the staff, talked with my agent and I told them I wanted to stay,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“I wanted to help Corinthians fight for a place in Libertadores.”
The 24-year-old has netted an impressive 15 goals since making his return to Brazil to help his new side move towards the upper echelons of the table.
Tottenham chief Andre Villas-Boas spent in excess of £100m over the summer, but was believed to still be keen on Pato as he looked to plot for life without Gareth Bale.
