Tottenham Hotspur target Krzysztof Piatek, also a target of Barcelona, has addressed speculation on his future, speaking to Diario Sport via TalkSport.

What's the word?

The form of Mauricio Pochettino's side has raised concern at certain stages of the season so far and the continued reliance of Harry Kane in front of goal is an issue, with Spurs not having any depth beyond the England captain.

Spurs are amongst the clubs eyeing a move for Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek but face a fight with the likes of Barcelona to land the services of the Poland international, who addressed speculation on his future in comments made to Diario Sport via TalkSport.

Rated at around £30m by the Italian side, Tottenham will have to part with a hefty sum to secure his services but the player has suggested he will hold off on a transfer until the end of the current campaign at the earliest.

What was said?

"I have heard that Barcelona want to sign me, but I do not believe it. I did very well last season and felt I needed to move on and I have only been here for two months helping my team, but who knows what the situation will be next year."

What should Spurs do?

Having scored 12 goals across all competitions this season, becoming the first player in Europe to hit double figures in the process, it is no surprise that Piatek's services are highly-coveted but Spurs can offer more regular opportunities.

With little back-up to Harry Kane, Piatek would arrive to become an important member of the squad and a player who would allow Pochettino to rotate his options in the final third  – something Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have failed to do previously – particularly on the eve of Champions League matches.

However, a bidding war could emerge for Piatek and the chances of him leaving in January seem slim as he only arrived at Genoa in the summer. If Spurs really do want the 23-year-old, Pochettino must accelerate a move.
