Tottenham could make a January move for Cagliari’s Albin Ekdal with the player’s agent having revealed that the midfielder is ready for a big transfer.
The Swede has been in electric form in Serie A this season, with his weekend hat-trick in the 4-1 defeat of Inter Milan capping some excellent recent displays.
His performances have attracted a host of top names, with Spurs among the list of suitors monitoring his situation.
Ekdal himself is now 25, and his agent, Martin Klette, says that it’s time for the Scandinavian to step up and make a headline grabbing transfer:
“His future? Albin is ready for the next step. As long as he stays he will do his best for Cagliari, as he has done in recent years.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“He has a good contract with Cagliari and really likes the team, the club and the city, but he is ready for a new challenge if and when that will come.
“I do not want to reveal too much information about the clubs interested in my player but I can confirm that there were and there are those interested. Let’s see if this will mean there will be a transfer in January or next June.
“It was a fantastic game [against Inter], a day to remember. I saw him with the national team in September and he is now in good shape.”
Ekdal has spent the majority of his career in Italian football after joining Juventus as a youngster.
Aston Villa are another side to have been linked with a move.
