Tottenham target told to snub Premier League

Atletico Mineiro attacking-midfielder Bernard

Tottenham target Bernard has been told by fellow Brazilian Dante to stay away from the Premier League, reports the Mirror.

Atletico Mineiro midfielder Bernard has been linked with a move to London, but Bayern Munich defender Dante has urged him to join the Bundesliga instead.

He said: “I talked a bit with Bernard and I explained the philosophy of this country. He is a talented boy who will adapt to Germany.

“He may not have a physique like many other players but he is a player who would suit Borussia Dortmund’s style of play.”

Dortmund have also targeted the 20-year-old, who could be a replacement for the outgoing Mario Gotze, who will join Dante at treble winners Bayern Munich this summer.

But Spurs will continue their pursuit of the attacking midfielder, after already missing out on long-term target Joao Moutinho. The Portuguese midfielder joined Monaco in a £60million deal that included James Rodriguez.

Bernard has been capped three times by Brazil, and the youngster has been tipped to be in the national squad for the 2014 World Cup, which Brazil are hosting.

Andre Villas-Boas will be hoping that the Brazilian ignores the advice of Dante, and joins Tottenham Hotspur this summer instead of Champions League finalists Dortmund.

Should Bernard listen to Dante? Would he suit Dortmund more than Spurs?
