Christian Eriksen says that Tottenham were the only suitable club to have shown significant interest in him this summer.
The Danish playmaker was a part of Spurs’ £100m revamp under Andre Villas-Boas, who drafted in a number of players to replace Gareth Bale – the Welshman completing a world-record move to Real Madrid.
Eriksen’s future was the subject of much debate throughout the transfer window, with the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan believed to have been interested in his signature.
The 21-year-old however, says that he didn’t have a wealth of options to choose from, but that he is happy to be a Tottenham player.
“There were not that many clubs to choose from in the end and no-one were closer than Tottenham,” he told Sky Sports.
“There were a lot of rumours, but I only felt right about the approach from Tottenham. The club followed me for a long time and really showed intent.
“It was the whole package that attracted me. I spoke briefly with the manager and my impression is that he is a very good manager. The goal is to challenge for the title. That is what the club wants and that is what I want.”
Eriksen is widely thought of as one of the finest attacking midfielders in European football, but completed a cut-price £12m switch to White Hart Lane thanks to being in the last year of his contract with Ajax.
There are a number of rivals for a starting berth at the club, but AVB is said to be a big fan of the young Dane.
