Tottenham to beat transfer deadline with late winger raid

Tottenham are readying a late £5m swoop for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk wide-man Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Ukrainian ace is set to be a free agent in just under six months’ time, but the League Cup finalists are eager to beat the looming transfer deadline to secure his signature.

Roma were keen on ‘Kono’ until late last week, but it’s understood that the Italians have pulled out of the race, leaving Spurs clear to move for the skilful wide-man.

Liverpool have also chased the Eastern European – coming close to signing him 12 months ago – while Manchester United have been mooted as admirers of his talents more recently.

However, Tottenham could win the race with a £5m offer, which may tempt Dnipro as their ace edges towards free agent status.

With Aaron Lennon looking likely to leave White Hart Lane, manager Mauricio Pochettino could end up short of wide options, making Konoplyanka tempting.
