The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the top emerging forwards in European football, and enjoyed a fine debut season at the San Siro last term after signing from Caen.
But, first-team opportunities look to be limited this term, with Milan having added Alessandro Matri to their squad to accompany Mario Balotelli, Giampaolo Pazzini and Stephan El Shaarawy.
As a result, the teenager is believed to be considering a move away from the club in order to continue his development.
This has alerted Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who is keen to add to his striking options.
The Portuguese coach is said to be lining up an loan move with a view to an £8m permanent deal.
AVB is currently short on firepower having written off Emmanuel Adebayor, leaving him with only Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe.
Niang’s powerful physique has attracted Villas-Boas, who believes that the youngster would add another dimension to his side’s play in the final third.
The Frenchman only signed a new deal with Milan earlier this summer, but has made on appearance so far this season.
Should Tottenham move for M’Baye Niang? Or does Emmanuel Adebayor deserve another chance?
