Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to reignite moves for Southampton duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez in January, with a number of fringe players set to be sacrificed to land the pair, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Argentine coached the double act at St Mary’s Stadium last season and was linked with summer swoops to lure both players with him to north London.
But the Saints’ reluctance to sell Schneiderlin and Rodriguez’s lengthy knee injury scuppered both deals.
However Pochettino has not been put off, and will go for both again when the transfer window opens as he plots to recover from a tricky start to life at White Hart lane.
J-Rod and Schneiderlin are set to cost in excess £40m, which Pochettino will have to fund by selling fringe players.
Andros Townsend, Vlad Chiriches, Aaron Lennon are Paulinho are all on the Lilywhites’ hit-list, with interest from within the Premier League and abroad likely to be high in the underperforming quartet.
As well as the Southampton pair, Pochettino is keen to add Colombian striker Teo Gutierrez to his ranks, with Spurs scouts having been dispatched to assess the River Plate ace in recent weeks.
