Tottenham top of 2016 Premier League table

What a week it’s been to be a Spurs fan – a Champions League triumph over CKSA Moscow in Russia, followed by an emphatic win over everybody’s Premier League title favourites Manchester City at White Hart Lane.

In fact, the Lilywhites have consistently been on the up since Mauricio Pochettino took the managerial reigns at the start of last season.

And that 2-0 win over the Citizens on Sunday, inspired by a high-pressing frontline, an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal and a clever Dele Alli finish, means Spurs have claimed the most points of any side during 2016.

Indeed, the Lilywhites come out on top in terms of points, most wins, fewest defeats and goal difference – rightfully claiming a place at the top of the 2016 table.

Unfortunately, the Premier League doesn’t follow the Gregorian calendar. But if their early form is anything to go by, Spurs will be well in the mix come the end of May.
