Tottenham watching Serie A sensation

Tottenham are among a number of clubs watching Sampdoria’s rising star Manolo Gabbiadini, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Italian striker has made a fine start to the season in Serie A, netting two goals in three appearances – including the winning effort in the derby against Genoa over the weekend.

Clubs from across the continent are rumoured to be looking at the 22-year-old, with Spurs firmly in the mix.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be looking to bolster his attack after growing frustrated with his current options, and he may look to delve into the transfer market after a fairly quiet summer in terms of arrivals at White Hart Lane.

Gabbiadini is a genuine January option if his continues to impress, with the one cap Italy international – whose sole appearance came against England in 2012 – on top form.

However, his contractual situation is complicated.

Juventus own 50% of his rights alongside Sampdoria, so Spurs would have to negotiate a fee with both clubs to snap him up.

The Old Lady gave half of his ownership to their divisional rivals over the summer for £4.3m.
