According to reports in The Sunday Express, Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a cut-price £10m bid for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney during the January transfer window after the Bhoys were knocked out of the Champions League.

What's the word, then?

Kieran Tierney claps Celtic fans after Champions League exit

Well, The Sunday Express report that Spurs baulked at the £20m asking price for the highly-rated Scotland international during the summer transfer window, but he could potentially be available for a lower fee now.

The Sunday Express say that Celtic have been hit hard in the pocket after they were eliminated from Europe's elite club competition following defeat over two legs to AEK Athens, and that they now need to make up the £27m shortfall they have lost as a result.

The report adds that Spurs are ready to test their resolve to keep hold of their prized asset, who would likely be a long-term replacement for Danny Rose for the north London outfit.

Would he be a good Spurs signing?

He certainly would be, and he would be a huge bargain if he costs just £10m.

The 21-year-old has proven during his time in the Celtic first team that he is mature and offers plenty at both ends of the pitch, and he looks to have great potential to improve even further in the future at a club like Tottenham.

The fact that he can get up and down the pitch and has even captained the Bhoys at times prove the qualities that he has, and he would push first-choice Ben Davies more than Rose currently is.

If the north London outfit do succeed in bringing him south of the border for that price, it will be their biggest bargain since they got Toby Alderweireld in a £11.4m deal from Atletico Madrid three summers ago.
