To say Spurs are happy with their start to 2017 would be an understatement. The Lilywhites ran out 1-4 winners at Watford in the first Premier League game of the New Year, with the Hornets’ one goal flattering for them in what was a truly dominant showing from the visiting north Londoners.
Tottenham’s goals were scored by Harry Kane and Dele Alli, so, naturally, the English duo have earned the lion’s share of the praise since the final whistle. But, we were particularly impressed by Christian Eriksen, who was the unsung hero with what was a special performance.
As the stats show, the Dane created five chances (more than any other player on the pitch), while weighing in in a defensive sense with five tackles and an interception. He did all of this while maintaining a pass success return of 89%, too!
After some questionable early-season showings, the ex-Ajax man looks to be back to his very best.
