Transfer bid rejected for top attacking target, Spurs to return with improved offer

According to reports from AD, Tottenham Hotspur have seen a transfer bid for Vincent Janssen rejected by AZ Alkmaar.

The 22-year-old has just come to the end of a sensational season at the AFAS Stadium, finishing up as the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 27 goals during what was his maiden top flight campaign.

That impressive rise since plying his trade with Almere City in 2015 saw the 5 foot 11 striker make his Netherlands debut in March, going on to bag three goals in five appearances for Oranje.

Earlier this month, Mirror Football reported on the Lilywhites’ interest in Janssen – claiming they’d even agreed a £12million fee with the Dutch outfit.

But that doesn’t appear to be the case, with AD reporting that the north London club have seen an opening bid rejected.

But still in need of an understudy to star frontman Harry Kane, who started all 38 of Spurs’ Premier League fixtures last season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are expected to return with an improved offer.

Interestingly, Spurs fans voted Janssen as the target they most want Mauricio Pochettino to sign in Football FanCast’s exclusive poll.
