Transfer blow for Tottenham as target opts for Brazil

Tottenham have bit been dealt a huge transfer blow as long-term target Alvaro Pereira has opted for a move to Palmeires in January, according to talkSPORT.

The right-back is currently on loan at Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo from Inter Milan but has been increasingly linked to another move this winter.

And Premier League duo Tottenham and Swansea were both keen on bringing the 27-year-old to the Premier League to help shore up their often leaky defences.

But Pereira has reportedly opted to reamin in Brazil, joining Palmeiras on an inital loan deal next month, with a £7.5m fee set to be agreed next summer to keep him in South America on a permanent basis.
