Twitter destroys Dele Alli for Croatia performance

Dele Alli is taking an absolute beating on social media after the Tottenham youngster struggled in England’s semi-final defeat to Croatia.

It’s official. It’s not coming home. England’s exhilarating World Cup run ended in misery on Wednesday night courtesy of goals from Mario Mandzukic and Ivan Perisic.

The Croatian midfield slowly but surely started to take over the game, and by the mid-way point in the second half it was like England weren’t even playing with a midfield.

While this was probably a tactical error by Gareth Southgate, Alli is taking tons of flak for his performance.

The 22 year-old scored against Sweden, but he hasn’t had a great tournament, seemingly carrying a knock through many of the games.

Together with Jesse Lingard he was tasked with helping Jordan Henderson and later Eric Dier in midfield, and neither of the attacking talents really did their defensive duties.

Alli had a particularly rough night, failing to make a single tackle or interception.
