Goals from Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale gave the White Hart Lane outfit a 2-0 lead, before Per Mertesacker headed home in the second-half to set up a tense finale.
Although the result could prove to be pivotal in the race for a spot in the top four, Villas-Boas remained grounded, insisting there is still much work to be done between now and the end of the season:
“It was very, very important for what it means, but obviously nothing is finished yet,” he told Sky Sports.
“We have to believe that we still have to fight hard. We have to play Liverpool (next weekend) and we have to try to profit from another important fixture and keep doing our job.
“It is important we gather as many points as we can to finish where we want to be.”
But, the Portuguese coach does feel that Tottenham now have the momentum in the battle between themselves and Arsenal for Champions League qualification:
“Motivations are now different. We are extremely confident. They are on a low at the moment.
“We have to continue to do our job.”
