Emmanuel Adebayor is beginning to show his worth and Andre Villas-Boas says he could be key against Basel.
The big striker has had an indifferent season since joining the club on a full-time basis last summer and he has been blighted by illness and injury, as well as being away for the Africa Cup of Nations.
He has returned to some sort of form and took just over 30 seconds to net the opener against Everton, so the boss is hoping he can do the same against Basel.
Villas-Boas said: “He has got back in the goals in our recent games and he has shown how influential he can be.
“Finding the back of the net allows him to go into the game with more confidence and I always think it’s self-belief from the player, rather than anything else, that helps them improve.
“His link-up play has improved tremendously. He’s been much more involved in the build of play and assisted and created so much, allowing others to flourish.”
